Pondless Water Feature Construction, Madison TN
Watch as Travis and the team construct one of the best pondless water features JVI has ever built!
Madison residents Devin and Denise called the JVI team out to construct a pondless water feature beside their little getaway home. The serene area was surrounded by rustling trees. To add to this, they wanted to complete the perfect picture with the sounds of flowing water. Watch the video above to see how they achieved that! We’ll walk you through the construction process and show you just how pleased the couple was with the end result below.
About the Client
The area Devin and Denise had us building in was one of the neatest we’d ever seen. Devin built an incredible little treehouse that he and his family loved to escape to. The house rested on the ground, with several big, beautiful trees surrounding it. It’s wooden aesthetic made for one of the most relaxing environments you could imagine, almost like something out of a fairy tale. With an area for campfires right out front, you’d be hard pressed to find a nicer location.
Denise always loved the sound of flowing water, and she felt it was the biggest thing missing from their little set-up. That’s where we came in. After three days, Denise and Devin had a beautiful 25’ pondless water feature to enjoy.
Constructing the 25’ Pondless Feature
Day 1: Digging the Hole
The first day of the building process had our team moving fast. We installed the basin, and rocked half of the first stream. Anthony, one of our team members, dug deep to allow for plenty of water flow. At some points the stream was about 8’’ deep, perfect gorge depth.
Day 2: Progress Through Rain
Despite being cut short by rain, Day 2 saw water flowing through the unfinished pond. There was still plenty of work to be done – a few rocks were still missing about halfway down the stream. That caused a few separate streams to form, one of which actually enhanced the project! We pulled the liner back and built up the area to allow the secret stream to form off the side.
Day 3: Finishing Touches
By Day 3 we finished up the project! The bottom of the stream, though pondless, had a basin with a little bit of depth to it. If not for the raccoons that live in the area, Devin and Denise could have added some little goldfish if they wanted to!
The top of the feature was unique as well. Mossy logs rest over a big rock at the top to add a little woodsy flair. The moss will thrive in moist conditions, creating a natural ecosystem that compliments the plants that Denise added to the border.
We installed lights on an automatic timer as well, allowing the couple to enjoy the pond’s beauty at night.
The Final Look
After we finished the project, Devin sent a picture to Denise. Her response? “I love it! It needs plants! Tell them we’ll be there Saturday.” Talk about a compliment! We always appreciate seeing our customers thrilled after a job, and Devin and Denise were a pleasure to work with.
