Christmas Is Here (Sort Of…)

Christmas is the biggest event in the Smith house.

They do all the bells and whistles: lights, decorations, music, and don’t forget about the Christmas tree! It’s a family tradition for them to all go choose the family tree together as soon as they hit the “shelves”.

The Smith family even has a guide for their Christmas tree shopping event. Its title: Finding The Best Christmas Trees For Sale In Nashville.

The first section is about how to find the perfect tree.

How To Pick The Perfect Christmas Tree

This video gave the Smiths everything they needed on what to look for (and more):

There are 2 things the Smiths look for when they pick out Christmas trees:

  1. Structure
    • it looks good
    • straight top
    • consistent shape (no holes/bulges)
  2. Tree Health
    • pull on the stem to make sure no needles come off
    • look on inside for dry needles, broken branches, anything unusual

How the tree looks and its health is more important than the price for a few reasons.

This tree will be decorating their home so they’ll be seeing it every day and other people will too. If it isn’t a good tree then it may not hold ornaments, it could die quickly, or it could just plain not look great. This could mean more cleaning up needles too:

Great Christmas trees make homes look (and smell) better plus they can last for a much longer time. The Smiths love this because they like to keep their tree all the way from December through the New Year.

But where can the Smiths (and you) find great Christmas trees for sale in Nashville?

The Smith family goes to the same place every year because it’s a fun, family-friendly experience each time (little Sammy Smith loves the cocoa best). That’s the main reason they go but they also like the pricing.

Pricing For Christmas Trees

Christmas tree prices differ from place to place but they mostly change due to the size and quality of the trees. JVI Secret Gardens trees are Fraser Firs (more on these Cadillacs of trees later) that range from 3-12 feet high. The pricing is about $10 per foot for trees 6-10 feet tall. Outside of that the pricing can very (like 3 footers being $20).

Big box store trees mightbe cheaper but they’re usually not fresh, meaning they’ll die sooner and leave you with a lot more needles to clean up.

You’ll also pay more for better trees, 2 types of which are the best: fraser firs and scotch pines.

Types Of Christmas Trees For Sale

Fraser Fir

This is the Cadillac of Christmas trees and exactly what the Smiths want. They are the more popular tree for a few reasons:

  • Tougher needles mean less of a cleanup
  • Stronger stems for more decorations
  • Fragrant piney smell for that Christmassy feel

These are why most people think about this type of tree when they think about Christmas. But some people prefer a different kind of Christmas tree.

Scotch Pine

Scotch Pines are another popular type of Christmas tree. While they may not have as strong of stems, people still like them because they:

  • Have a sweet, piney scent
  • Are softer looking
  • Have a full look to them

If you like a lot of ornaments then this tree may not be the one you want to take home.
